England draw Euro 2012

England draw Euro 2012 opener 1-1 against France.

England's Joleon Lescott scores the opening goal past France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

When the game took off, it only took 30 minutes for Joleon Lescott to score for England. It was heading into the net from a great Steven Gerrard cross. Great goal! Unfortunaley it all went down hill after 9 minutes when  France hit back with a brilliant curling shot from Manchester City's Samir Nasri to level the match. There was still plenty of time for either team to score but they decided to play easy. When the final whistle blew, a draw seemed like a fair result. Their performance took place in Donetsk, Ukraine and Captain Steven Gerrard was satisfied with the result.

"Of course we went into the game to try and to win it," Gerrard said. "But I think if you start a competition and put a point on the board against a good side like France, we're quite happy."

Sweden better get ready because they play against England this Friday!
