Spain started strongly, Xabi Alonso scoring the first goal in the 19th minute. The French were falling further and further behind the world champions, they did have a few chances at shooting but they never made the best of it. In the second half, it seemed as though France were going to level out the game. But instead they gave a cheap penalty away in the 91st minute. Xabi Alonso scored the second goal of the night, ensuring that Spain went through to the semi finals; where they will at against Portugal.

Vampire Slaying Kit Up For Sale!
In Yorkshire a rare Vampire Kit is going up for sale, the kit actually comes from the Victorian Time!
Included in the 19th century set are a pistol, a mallet and four wooden stakes to drive into the heart of a bloodsucker.
There are also old bottles of garlic, sacred earth and holy water to help ward off the toothy villain.
The stakes don't have any blood on them so it's believed they haven't been used before!

Nigel Smith from Tennant's
Auctioneers, North Yorkshire, says he expects the kit to sell for around £2,000,
adding that there'd been "tremendous" interest from across the world.
Mr Smith said these kits are
rare: "I've been in this business about 30 years and I've sold one other one
about 15 years ago from a museum in York."
It's thought vampire slaying
kits became fashionable after the famous 1897 novel Dracula, written by Bram
Stoker.
A Bed That Makes Itself!
Have you ever wished that one day something would be made
where you don’t have to get up in morning and worry about getting your bed made
and sorted? Well recently in Spain, that very thing has been made for public to
buy and use!
A girl called Ohea has had a bed made that completely makes itself, without you touching a thing! The new bed can work in two ways, firstly there is a button you press manually to make the bed, or secondly, there is a sensor which makes the bed 30 seconds after you get out of it. Both options will make the bed within 50 seconds. How cool is that!? This saves like 5 minutes of your time in the morning! So you could just get out of bed, slip your slippers on and go downstairs for breakfast, so when you come back up, your bed is all done and dusted!
Ohea said: “Many people are simply unable to leave the
home without having made their bed and this often gives rise to conflicts and
arguments! It’s a proven fact that for many people making their bed can be a
tiresome, even painful task; sometimes out of sheer habit, other times because
one is in a hurry and lacks time!”
This is an amazing product that has been made, and
personally I would love to own a bed that does this for you! If you are interested
in seeing how the bed makes itself, then watch this video to find out how:
What do you think? Would you like to own one of these smart beds? Post your thoughts/comments below...

Germany v Greece
Germany had a strong start with Lahm scoring the opening goal in the 39th minute. That was the last thing the Greeks wanted. They did fight back, Samaras scored an equaliser just 10 minutes into the second half. Germany later showed them who's boss. Khedira, Klose and Reus scoring the next three goals for Germany; putting them 4-1 in the lead. But, Boateng gave away a penalty kick for Greece after a hand ball. The final score ended up being 4-2 to Germany of course.
Greece are out of EURO 2012 and the Germans will be playing either England or Italy in the semi finals.

Bad Boy!
A boy went to his school in Orpington in the south-east of London, there, he attacked two teachers. He admitted that he head-butted one teacher. However, the other teacher had one brocken leg. He got a 12 month trial because of this. His mother thinks that what her don did was out off order. The teachers now admit that they should have controlled his anger, but they failed to do that, so now they have ended up in hospital, while the boy went to court. The judge said that the teachers could not come out of hospital because they were badly hurt.
Penguins Underthreat
Famous birds may fall about 80 per cent by the year 2100. Unlike birds penguins breed and care for their young on the sea ice. This means that if the ice breaks up they will not have anywhere to care for their young. It is also a problem because it may affect fish, squid and krill which is what penguins eat. This will cause peoblems up the food chain as marine life may starve to death. There is another species of penguins called Dion Islets colony in the west of antartica. It has already dissaperd completely because of a decline in antartic sea ice.
Twitter taken offline by a "cascading bug".
Twitter has blamed going of for more than an hour on a "cascading bug", this rendered the site unavailable on Thursday. Users of Twitter from around the world reported the difficulties with loging into the social networking site, these problems started around 17:00 BST. The service was down for about 2 hours while the engineers tried to solve the issue. In a blog post, Twitter dischatged reports that it had been hacked and it offered "sincere apologies" to the users. "A cascading bug is one with an effect that isn't confined to a particular
software element, but rather its effect "cascades" into other elements as well,"
explained Mazen Rawashdeh, the site's vice president of engineering. "One of the characteristics of such a bug is that it can have a significant
impact on all users, worldwide, which was the case today. As soon as we discovered it, we took corrective actions, which included rolling
back to a previous stable version of Twitter."

School Encouraged Boy To Write Farewell Letter To Mum
14 year old Wesley Walker wrote a letter to his mother, as if he had only a week left to live, but when he passed it to his mum she thought it was a suicide note and that he was going to hang himself.
The school apologised about the letter, as the mother thought that her son was going to commit suicide. The note included that at his funeral, everyone was to wear bright clothes, to reflect his personality and that his belonging to be divided amongst the family.
His mother said "He gave me the letter then went upstairs. After reading it I ran up to stop him as I thought he would hang himself on his bed" She also added "I don't think that the schools should make the children write these things as other parents may think the same thing as I did"

The summer came and went.
It seems this years summer was only on holiday. It is meant to be the warmest of the four seasons but we have had a series of showers and storms. The only way it has kept it's job description is making the days longer and nights shorter but when people want the night to last to have barbecue it helps if the fire isn't being put out by drizzle.
We were however on a drought warning even though we were also on flood alerts!
Summer is traditionally associated with hot dry weather, but this does not occur in all regions. In areas of the tropics and subtropics, the wet season (monsoon) occurs during the summer. This is when rain falls to water the plants and other crops. It is especially favoured in places like India and Thailand where during the rest of the year they hardly have any rain. Once it starts rains for months (usually about three).
This photo shows a wet season storm in Australia.
In Britain this June the average temperature (so far) was 9 degrees! That is incredibly low and not the best thing for the hopeful British people who are wishing for a hot and dry summer! Lets hope that it perks up for the rest of the year!

O level style exam to replace GCSE's
Mr Gove is reported to be preparing to scrap GCSEs for England. From autumn 2014 GSCE will no longer be the big test but he did not confirm any details. He said this action is needed because the GCSE exam system is letting children down. "Children are working harder than ever but we are hearing that the system is not
working for them," Mr Gove said. Documents setting out proposals for changes were leaked
to the Daily Mail and sources told the BBC they were correct.

Mother Guilty Of Murder
A woman was found guilty after killing her two children then slept with their bodies. They were staying at a hotel when a woman called Lianne Smith killed her daughter Rebecca Smith, who was only 5 years old. Then she killed her son Daniel Smith who was only 11 months old. How mean of her! They died of suffocation. She took a plastic bag and put it around her daughters neck and tinted it until she was dead, then did the same to her son. She slept with the dead children in her bed all night. A couple of years ago her husband was accused of sexually asulting his daughter and was sent to prison.
The World’s Most Favourite Food Is...
PASTA!
Pasta is a type of noodle and is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine, with the first reference dating back to 1154. It is also commonly used to refer to the variety of pasta dishes. Typically pasta is made from unleavened dough of durum wheat flour mixed with water and formed into sheets or various shapes, then cooked and served in any number of dishes. It can be made with flour from other cereals or grains and eggs may be used instead of water. Pastas may be divided into two broad categories, dried (pasta secca) and fresh (pasta fresca). Chicken eggs frequently dominate as the source of the liquid component in fresh pasta.

You would have thought that the world’s most favourite
food would be something like pizza, chips, biscuits or something on those
lines. But it isn’t! It’s PASTA! Pasta has topped a global survey of the world's favourite foods.
Just in the UK, sales of dry and fresh pasta reached £53m in 1987. In 2009, the
amount was £282m! Pasta-based ready meals and the value rises to £800m! An
astonishing amount! And that’s the UK alone!

what do you think? What is your favourite food? Can you believe that pasta is

Do you enjoy school?
Lots of people say your school days are the best days of your life, but what do you like about your school?
Do you love seeing your mates every day and learning new things?
Maybe you've got great teachers who make all your subjects fun?
Is there a special project at your school that you think is a really good idea? Maybe it deals with bullying really well or is great at being 'green'?
Lots of students think school is ok. A typical student think they would choose the socialising side. Eventhough they do make an effort in class and get decent grades, they also get told off for talking alot. Also some childeren 'hate' school... A childs definition: "I hate school, and I'm not going back!"
Have you ever had that thought? Lots of kids do. Usually this feeling doesn't last long. But what happens if you feel this way too much? School is a fact of life, and getting an education can help you build the kind of future life you want.
Why Do Some Kids Dislike School?
If you don't like school, the first step is finding out why. You might not like school because a bully is bothering you, or because a kid you don't like wants to hang around with you or maybe you don't get along with your teacher. You might feel different or worry that you don't have enough friends.
Sometimes it's a problem with your classes and schoolwork. Maybe the work is too easy and you get bored. Or maybe the work is too hard, or you don't feel as smart as the other kids. Reading may be difficult for you, but you're expected to do a lot of it. You may be getting further and further behind, and it may seem like you'll never catch up. Maybe you're dealing with worries, stress, or problems that make it hard to concentrate on schoolwork.
When you stop to think about why you don't like school, you can start taking steps to make things better.
Finding help...
-It's a good idea to talk to someone about your problems with school. Your mum, dad, relative, teacher, or school counselor will be able to help you. It's especially important to tell an adult if the problem is that you're being bullied or someone hurts you physically.
-Another good idea is to write down your feelings about school in a journal. You can use a journal or diary or just write in an ordinary notebook. It's a great way to let out emotions that may be stuck inside you. And you don't have to share what you've written with others.
-If you feel disorganized or like you can't keep up with your schoolwork, your teachers and school counselors want to help. Teachers want and expect you to ask for help learning stuff. If all of your subjects seem really hard, a school counselor can help you sort things out. Special help with schoolwork is available if you need it.
Find help if you need it, then enjoy your childhood in school!

Find the sport you love
Channel 4 has a campaign called 'Find the sport you love' where Billy Bridge and Richard Sargeant go on a mission to get more young people involved in sport. One of their favourite slogans is 'Sport can be as powerful as medication in treating depression'. They know this all too well as they are both disasblility athletes competing at international level in the sport wheelchair basketball. They even say that sport saved their lives!
Why is it so important?
Only 42% of 16 to 19 year olds play any organised sport!
'Our campaign is about getting more people to play sport. It’s good for your physical and mental health, sport literally makes you happy! But still not enough people are doing regular exercise. We’re going to be showing people why sport matters and helping everyone find a sport they can fall in love with. Support our campaign to make everyone healthier and happier.' quote the two boys.
How can you help?
You can help by following them on twitter at #sportyoulove.
How can you find the sport you love?
A way they can suggest is get online! You can find out loads of things like what sport, where, when and for how much! If you live in South Yorkshire try this... http://www.sysport.co.uk/.

France v Sweden
It was looking like France would win this game, but Sweden took a late lead in the 54th minute; Ibrahimovic scoring the goal. The second goal was scored by Larsson, also from Sweden, in the 91st minute. All this wasn't enough to put them through to the quarter finals. So France will join England in the battle to be crowned European Champions.
England v Ukraine
Rooney was back in the squad today following a suspension. England's squad were looking very strong but Ukraine were taking hold of the possession, making the opposition have something to look out for. In the first half the co-hosts had many attempt to score; none of them resulting in a goal. England were lagging behind and had to do something.
In the second half, England picked their game up a lot and scored a fantastic goal with Rooney's header. Right at that moment England were topping their group, not something that was expected from them. However, Ukraine had planned an attack. The ball ended in the goal by *that* much over the line, John Terry managed to kick it far out onto the pitch. Even with the official standing on the goal line, the goal was not spotted. Luck was on England's side. The game ended 1-0 to England, putting them through to the quarter finals.
Yellow cards for England:
Gerrard, Cole
Yellow cards for Ukraine:
Tymoshchuk, Rakitskiy, Shevchenko
Subs for England:
Milner ~ Walcott
Welbeck ~ Carroll
Rooney ~ Oxlade-Chamberlain

15 DEAD
A suicide bomber has killed 15 people at a funeral. Around 40 mourners were injured in a blast which happened in a tent at the funeral. The bomber needs to be found straight away, if you come across a man or woman carrying bombs or anything suspicious, then tell the police immediately as they need to find this person fast, because he/she is very dangerous!
PANTS!
Nickolas Bendtner was fined £80,000 for showing off his pants. He has been banned for one match and fined £80,000 by the European footballs governing body after Nickolas exposed his underwear in front of hundreds of people. He did this to celebrate a goal he scored, but he has now been banned for one match and fined £80,000, which is a lot of money.
GHOST!
A couple say their house is haunted after a man called John saw a toddler in a picture. The strange thing is that when he told his neighbours about his ghost story, his neighbours told him the story of a baby found dead in a cot many years ago.
The big question is, what will they do? Will they leave or will they stay in their home?

New Flame Gets Swapped For Old Flame
25 year old David State swapped his torch with one of the police officers, and dropped onto one knee and proposed to his girlfriend yesterday.
He was carrying the torch between Marske-by-the-Sea and Loftus, when he proposed to his 8 month pregnant girlfriend Christine Langham."I was in shock, and I think I still am!" Said Christine, "It was emotional enough watching him carry the torch, but then he topped it off by proposing"
"I tried not to cry but I started to sob and I said yes" She added.
David was selected to carry the torch as he raised over £15,000 for selected charities. He came up with the plan in February, after he was announced as a torchbearer. As he told the Daily Mail, the only problem with his plan was that he had to leave his fiancee behind after the proposal so he could finish his part of the torch relay.

Cheryl Cole's single, 'Call My Name' has gone straight in at
number one. In its first week it sold 152,000 hits, which makes it the fastest-

from the top spot. Recording-breaking songster Cheryl has now had three number

The Voice Live Tour Canclled!
The Voice live tour has been
cancelled because of low ticket sales.
The show's eight finalists had been due to perform 11 gigs across the country, kicking off in Bournemouth on the 12th of September.
But a spokesperson said: "Unfortunately, The Voice UK Live has been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales."
"Customers are advised to contact their point of purchase for ticket refunds."
I wonder what the finalists have to say about this...
Children Face Nightime Ban For City In Wales.
Some children in Bangor, Wales, face night-time bans from
the city centre in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour.
Under-16s who are without an adult or parent have been told they will be banned if they are seen hanging around causing mischief.
Children who break the rules will not be allowed in the city centre between 9pm and 6am.
Some people have criticised the ban but the police say children acting sensibly and not breaking the law will be fine.
North Wales Police hope the ban will reduce the number of complaints about groups of children on the streets breaking the law and annoying people who live in the area.
Kids who ignore the ban could end up in prison for three months or get a fine worth £2,500.
Willow Smith Has Had Braces Fitted
Willow Smith was born on October the 31st 2000, and she is often known simply as Willow. Willow is an American actress and singer. She is the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, and the younger sister of Jaden Smith.
People who wear braces don’t need to be embarrassed or scared about wearing
them, as even famous people/celebrities need to wear them as well! Not so long
ago, Willow Smith had to have train-track braces
fitted on her teeth. See, even famous people have to wear them sometimes!
There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.
Braces do your teeth good, as
they straighten your teeth and gradually align them back in place after a
certain amount of time, depending on what or how many teeth need fixing.
One in four children do nothing to help their parents around the house
I am sure that kids like me
around the world hate doing chores around the house. However, other kids like to
do chores. For example, me, I get rewarded for doing chores around the house as
I get an allowance each month for doing this. This kind of reward might be
different for other people.
Well, a survey has found that a quarter of children do nothing to help their parents around the house. This might sound familiar to some of you out there… When actually, doing chores around the house will help you in the future when you are older. I bet now, some of you will be thinking and saying to yourself, “how will doing chores at a young age help you when you are older.”
Well the answers to your thoughts are that if you do chores at a young age, for example: cleaning your room, hoovering the house, do the ironing, wash the pots, wash the counters down, and lot’s more! By doing all this, you will be fully prepared and ready for the future, when you own a house, and you have to do all the house work.
The job
kids are most likely to do is tidy their own rooms and make their own beds. In
comparison, most parents spent four hours a week helping around the house when
they were kids. I bet you didn't know that!
But how about you? If you’re
a kid, do you do house work in your house at all? Let us know with a comment below...
Dance vs Gymnastics
Dance...
There is a certain mystique to women and men who can move their bodies in amazing and beautiful ways. Dance is as much a part of the world’s artistic history as literature, music, or the visual arts, and its beauty is just as varied and complex. Dance allows people to discover, explore and develop their natural instincts for movement, enabling students of dance to develop not only their motor skills but also their mental and emotional personalities. It's the expression of soul through lines of the body and pure movement. Dance is also a road that can that can quickly lead to injury if the body is not treated properly. A dancer often dances for the love of the movement, for the quest after physical perfection, putting in long hard hours in order to become professional. However, one must care for the body and its needs and limitations, or too much practice can be too much of a good thing. Different types of dance emphasize different movements and techniques. For example Ballet, which serves as a foundation for all types of motion, consists of a set of mandatory positions and steps; while there are various techniques and styles of ballet, exacting foot work and rigid posture are always required.
When I did dance, to me, dance was everything. It's a stress relief, creative outlet, the love of my life. It was my passion. When I did it, I was happy.
Gymnastics...
Gymnastics is so much more than what we see on TV. "Acro" as this sport is often known is a sport for both women and men. This form of gymnastics combines strength with flexibility, power with agility and precision. This sport is amazing for how many skills you can learn and build upon. In other words, Gymnastics is a sport involving the performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, and balance.
I do Gymnastics at Rotherham Sports Acro, I love it! Rotherham Sports Acro... (they take any age group!)
From Super Tots to Competition Squad,
Super Tots' can start at 5 years of age and they learn the basic gymnastic moves: cartwheels, headstands, handstands etc. They are beginning to learn how to use their body in a way of balance and co-ordination.
After 'Super Tots' gymnasts move to Tuesday or Thursday General Classes. These classes are a slightly more advanced level of gymnastics where the gymnast becomes ever more aware of the endless abilities available to them in this sport. Pre-Comp'
A lot of time and effort is spent on coaching this squad to bring them up to competition standard as these gymnasts are the future Rotherham Sports Acro Competition Squad. More emphasis is put on the finer points of gymnastics in the way the gymnast points their toes and keep their legs straight and their body tight. In Sports Acrobatics you are unable to compete until you are 8 years old in the year of competition. Often the 'Pre-Comp' consists of youngsters much younger than 8 years of age as this enables them to get used to different skills and have confidence in their ability for when they are old enough to compete.
Competition Squad - This squad is one which we are very proud of as they go from strength to strength each year. This squad performs some complex moves and compete probably 4 - 5 times a year. The majority of the year the gymnasts are training for competitions and are required to compete at high standards which they usually do. The 'Competition Squad' train and do conditioning 3 - 5 times a week.
At Competition level the Gymnasts wear a Club leotard and tracksuit. The Gymnasts usually start competing at Regional Novice and progress through levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. They then continue through to junior and senior international. We hope that every member of the 'Competition Squad' has the ambition to compete at this level. Gymnasts from the 'Competition Squad' have won medals at Club, Regional, County and National Level.
So any age, why not do sports? Dance or Gymnastics.

Microsoft Unveils Surface Windows 8 Tablets
Microsoft has revealed Surface - it's own brand family of tablets. These touchscreen computers will have the new windows 8 software and will have a choice of Intel or ARM-based processor. Apple's rival has a new competitor to go against the iPad, Apple's best-seller. However there are other manufacturers that are planning to release similar tablets designed for Windows 8. Steve Ballmer, the company's chief executive said he wanted to give the software "its own companion hardware". The tablets have a 10.6 inch (29.6cm) displays, built-in kickstands and are encased in magnesium - the company described this as the first of their kind. They are 9.3mm (0.4 inches) thick - slightly thinner than the iPad, also they run the Windows RT version of the new system. The other versions, using Intel's x86 technology run Windows 8 pro and are 13.5mm (0.5 inches) thick. These specifications show that the screens on the Windows tablets' screens will be bigger than the iPad's but it will be heavier too.
