Bombing At Boston Marathon

Two explosions went off yesterday at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing three people and leaving over one hundred and forty people injured.

President Barrack Obama said whoever was responsible for the attack will be found, he said "We will find out who did this and they will feel the full weight of justice."

Security has increased throughout Boston and every major city in the country.

Attacks like these are incredibly rare, the Boston Marathon is one of the biggest major marathons and security is very tight.

Around twenty three thousand runners took part this year, and the race is watched by thousands of people across the city. This came as a shock to many people across the globe.

Stories of heroism are beginning to emerge, over hundreds of runners that took part that survived the blast were phoning up local hospitals and offering blood to those that were in need. "People were sharing phones to make the offer- as many didn't take their phones to the race" said a British runner who finished before the initial blast.

Boston police are working around the clock to find out what happened. One person has been arrested in connection to the bombings and a police officer has been killed.

Security measures have been increased in London for the marathon coming soon.

15 People killed in Texas blast


On Wednesday 17th April, after a huge explosion took place in the American state of Texas 15 people have died. Plus over 160 people are known to be injured.

It has been reported that some people are trapped inside the remains of some buildings - also a number of firefighters are missing. The explosion took place in the town of West. Unfortunately all sorts of buildings have been destroyed, including: schools and homes.

 
The politician in charge of the American state, Texan Government Rick Perry said:
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of West, and the first responders on the scene”.

 
Some American officials said that they think the blast was caused by a gas called Ammonia. At the centre of the blast, gas was being stored at a plant in high pressure tanks. The gas may be poisonous; therefore police have evacuated around half of residents in this area.

Indian Theme Day At DCS!

On the Thursday the 18th of April 2013, Dinnington Comprehensive School will be holding an Indian Theme Day which will take place at lunch (12:00) in all of the dining areas (Hatfield, Osborne and Segrave). During lunch students will be able to buy certain meals which all originate from India, allowing students to see what foreign food is like.
