Don't look up!

A stranded Russian space probe, known officially as Phobos-Grunt, is destined to plummet back to earth on Sunday 15 January; with no indication of when or where it may make it's crash landing. Launched November 8 2011, a failed rocket flung the craft off-course, which lead to the inevitable captivity of the probe. For months it was trapped inside the Earth's orbit.

The gravitational pull of the Earth's core has slowly been dragging Phobos-Grunt away from it's original target of Mars. With no way to communicate with the probe, scientists are anticipating it's rocky return. The constant shifts in the outer atmosphere and solar activity make predicting an exact time and location impossible, but under current conditions the probe should return at approximately 3:22pm (GMT) over the Atlantic Ocean, east of Argentina.

The 14 ton spacecraft will make it's fiery decent with no less than 11 tons of toxic rocket fuel on board, which should make for an explosive display should it land on hard soil. Although 73% of the planet is water, many are still worried of the danger. Organisations across the globe have joined forces to track every millisecond of the fall. The panel includes representatives from 12 space agencies. With funding for space research already being cut, could this be the end of the road?

Sneak peek at Daniel Craig as Bond

Burglars - How strange!

Last night my house was broken into by what seems to be youths of around 18 years of age. There were no signs of forced entry so they must have had keys. The only things that we have found missing so far are my Dad's laptop, my Mum's camera, a set of house keys and my bags.
The strange and lucky thing is they didn't go upstairs . The even stranger thing is they've been dumping things around Rotherham. Luckily 2 of my possesions were returned by kind people - these things being my school bag and my bank cards. My bank cards are fine but are due to be cancelled but my school bag was wrecked by the criminals, all of my school books were torn and ruined, my pens and pencils were snapped and all of my paperwork was scattered in the local field and road. But, wait for it, the most bizzare thing is my bank cards were found at the opposite side of Rotherham! What are these burgulars trying to do?!

If you have any information of the whereabouts of any of the following items please comment below:

A black bag with creamish fur lining from Next
A purple Dell laptop
A black Nikon DSLR camera.
A red purse
A black Bench purse
A Dinnington Comprehensive P.E kit
A pair of house keys

These iterms would have been purchased or discovered between last night and now.

Why is Friday 13th unlucky?

I have always wonderd why Friday the 13th is unlucky. Most people say that Friday the 13th is the unluckyest day out of the whole year!

No one is certain what the exact origin of the superstition is but the number 13 and Friday both have a long history of bringing bad luck and its the combanation of both days together that makes it the most feared of all.

''Unlucky 13''
Some people think that the number 13 is bad luck because of the bible. Judas, who betrayed Jesus, is thought to have been the 13th guest to sit down to the Last Supper.

Even today, people will not allow 13 people at their dinner table. If they want 13 guests they place a teddy bear in a seat to make it 14.

Others such as hotel managers think that it's not right to have a room number named after 13 or a 13th floor, they skip right to 14 and 15.

''Unlucky Friday''
Friday has always been considered as the worst day of the week.
For Example:
In Britain, Friday was once known as Hangman's Day because it was usually when people who had been condemned to death would be hanged.
Good Friday - the day of Jesus Christ's crucifixion is known to be the only good and lucky Friday.

So both of these put together = Unluky Friday the 13th.

camera man down!

making a mistake is ok isn't it? But it's not when its live on the TV! And certainly not when it's infrount of the head of the labor party. The camera man was walking backwards while the reporter was talking tho Ed Miliaband, when all of a sudden the camera man walked into a traffic island and tripped up! a passer bye then ran over to aid him and then they continued their filming on the interview.

Mouse Living The 'High' Life

A mouse has been taped to a fire work and set off in the new year celebrations in Frisian village of Drachten. Frisian village hates animal cruelty and has had 500 officers dedicated to stomping it out the village.

Two twenty year olds were responsible and were arrested for the cruelty and the mouse comicaly named Astromuis – Astro mous – by the Dutch media, was stuffed and mounted in a "triumphant position" surrounded by firework rockets on a display that opened to the public on Thursday.Astromuis was rescued by police with burns to his stomach and paws but died last Friday. The mouse is not the first victim of cruelty to animals to be preserved for posterity in Friesland's Natuurmuseum.

Also displayed is Dominomus, a stuffed sparrow which was shot in 2005 after it flew into an exhibition centre where 18 million dominoes were precariously balanced ready to be toppled for a world record attempt. The bird had knocked over 23,000 dominoes before it was killed to become an animal cruelty cause célèbre in Holland and has two popular songs and a website dedicated to its memory.

GB gymnasts qualify for 2012

For the first time in 20 years the male GB team has qualified for the Olympics! At the qualifiers they needed to come 4th or above and they came first, leaving France to second! In the first chance they had in Tokyo they missed out when they came 10th.
"After Tokyo everyone was a bit depressed but we got back in the gym and put our heads down," said Purvis.
They seemed to think that the home ground gave them an advantage, just like in any other sport.
Team member Daniel Keatings said: "It is quite scary, jumping up on high bar first. I had to really calm my nerves, but the fans were amazing."
But there is a problem - there are seven members of the team and only five can be picked for the games in July!

Mini Eggs At A Mini Price.

A glitch at Tesco ended up which the family favorites Mini Eggs being sold for only 1p with an added bonus buy one get one free offer making them 1/2p per bag!!!

One lucky shopper managed to get 46 bags for only 23p making them £32.39 (roughly) cheaper then normal!!!!!The glitch affected all Tesco stores across UK but the most affected were in Bolton, Lea Valley and Penarth.Several took to shopping site HotUkDeals to discuss the mistake, with one user reporting that they “had the lot” from their local Tesco. Other items were reported to have to same glitch with Lindor mini eggs going through the till at a penny, though without the buy-one-get-one-free deal. A user joked that they had “cleared out” the store after capitalising on the mistake.

The rush on local Tesco stores follows a similar incident in June which saw three cases of beer being rung up at just £11, or 24p individually- prompting thousands to cash in. They also were caught by a buyer selling buns on a 'special' offer at £1 a pack or 2 for £2. Thanks for working that out for us Tesco!

But Tesco isn't the only shop with price problems. In a WHS store in Worksop there were globes that use to cost £7 but were reduced to £6.99!!! That's a real good saving!!

Earth in Danger?

For many years we have been using different modes of transport, such as cars, buses and planes. Unfortunately, these use fossil fuels like petrol and diesel, which unleash greenhouse gases into the Earths atmosphere. This makes our planet warmer; melting ice in the North and South poles. As the ice is melting, the sea levels are rising; and coasts are vanishing.

Last year, many people witnessed some shocking natural disasters. Many earthquakes, some with a magnitude of more than 8.0, and ofcourse the tsunami in Japan. Who knows what will come next, maybe a huge earthquake? We need to be ready for whatever will come.

Furthermore, much of the animal kingdom is getting wiped out. This is because of humans cutting down a lot of trees in the animals' habitat. Tigers are just one example of an endangered species. It is said that only 3200 are left in the world. The number is critically low, so people are trying to save tigers by putting more in zoos. But just think what the world would be like without these magnificent creatures.

Pollution is the main cause of global warming. There is already a massive hole in the Ozone Layer above the North Pole. The suns rays are melting the ice and heating up the continent. Polar bears are forced to swim long distances in the summer to find somewhere to sleep. All this melting is causing the worlds sea level to rise, eroding more and more coastlines.

If you want Earth to stay how it is, or how it used to be, then be more efficient. Turn of the lights when you don't need them. Use your car less and switch to walking. Remember: Reuse Reduce Recycle!

Earth and its future is in OUR hands!

One Direction's crash!

Unfortunately One Direction were involved in an accident on the roads but you will be glad to know that they are all fine. It was One Direction's tour bus that got caught in a traffic accident. The boy group were travelling from their AMAZING show in Birmingham, when a car bumped into their tour bus. The boys had a few injuries such as headaches but luckily they were treated by Doctors. On the other hand the talented group did not have any major injuries so they felt well enough to perform at their show that night. They carried on their journey as usual and they could play and perform for the very lucky fans in Plymouth.

Why Do people Shoplift?

Worrall Thompson has apologised for his "stupid and irresponsible actions" after he was caught leaving Tesco without paying for £4 worth of items even though he had just spent £180 worth of Champagne! He has been cautioned by the police.  He had reportedly shoplifted on 5 seperate occasions. The 60 year old feels he has let his family and friends down but he doesn't know why.
Experts say that in these cases, shoplifting is not about really needing the thing  that is stolen. It is often about doing something that you are told you can't - which makes you want to do it even more!
But in most cases of stealing by what psychologists describe as "not professional shoplifters" - those who don't steal for profit or resale, or to feed a drug or alcohol addiction - there is something else going on - maybe a loss or sadness.
He was couldn't understand what led him to take items for example onions, a sandwich, cheese and wine. "I've been racking my brains to think why on earth did I do it and what was going through my mind at the time," he said. Shoplifters are usually honest people and have just had a trauma so instead of crash dieting, turning to alcoholism or drug abuse, they shoplift.

Kittens found with 18 extra toes!

Not so long ago it was found that 2 kittens had been born with slightly unusual feet...
Now I'm sure all of you know that cats USUALLY have 5 toes on their front paws and normally 4 toes on their back. But having extra toes is definately unusual... But this pair of kittens have a lot to impress as amazingly the pair of them together have a whopping 18 extra toes! The 2 kittens names are Ned and Fred, Ned has 8 extra toes... However Fred has an astonishing 10 extra toes! And because of their strange condition, the kittens have been handed over to a cats rescue centre in Hampshire.
Sadly, when these cats were found they were in poor condition , but luckily they are now on the mend and will be given new homes in about 2 weeks time.
Having extra toes/fingers is called Polydactyl. A strange name for a disease... This usually means having 1/2/3 extra toes/fingers but in this case its a different story...
Having extra toes doesn't affect the cats health, and now Ned and Fred are on the mend and they should go on to lead healthy and happy lives!

Even deers like shopping.

Missing your mark? Truck driver off 'Target' as he skids into icy pond and submerges semi in eight feet of water

A semi-truck hauling goods to Target came to rest in eight feet of icy Minnesota creek water after its driver lost control. The 35-year-old driver John Nettifee from St Paul crossed a lane of oncoming traffic on Interstate I-94 early Friday morning, passing a ditch and finally crashing into a nearby pond. The weight of the semi crushed the six-inch layer of ice, and the truck became submerged in seven to eight feet of water.

The icy water came up to the vehicle’s windows, nearly submerging the entire cabin, , State Patrol spokesman Lieutenant Eric Roeske told KARE-11 News.Luckily, the rig remained upright throughout the ordeal, and Mr Nettifee was able to escape by crawling through the truck’s roof hatch, KSTP-TV reports. He was taken to nearby Monticello Hospital and treated for minor injuries, police said.We are extremely grateful that no one was seriously injured during this incident.’The truck, which clearly displays the Target logo, was submerged in the pond until workers managed to pull it out, around 2.30pm today.
