Police Take A Hamster Into Protective Custody.

The police in the USA have taken a hamster into protective custody after it was found roaming free in a drunk drivers car.

Nicole Heuy
In the early hours of Tuesday morning the police pulled over a car. After a long chat with the driver, the police then noticed she was holding a hamster in her lap.

They then asked her to step out of her vehicle and she then placed her hamster on the dashboard of the car. She was arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

The hamster, who's name is not known, has been allowed to roam around the car. However it then took three men to get the very energetic hamster out.

The hamster looks similar to this.
It remains a mystery why the woman decided to take her furry friend along to the shop. She then later told police she had no one who would want the hamster, so she said "just kill."

A bit harsh?

The chief police executive said "A lesson to learn from this incident, other than do not drink and drive, is it is not safe to operate a motor vehicle with any type of animal on your lap."

Dead woman at the side of A90

A woman has been found dead next to the A90, north of Laurencekirk.

Her body was found at approximately 08:00 and her death was unexplained. The police want any one that saw her walking next to or on the road on the early hours of Friday morning to contact them. The road has been closed for investigation purposes.

16 Year Old Attack

In Ballymena, on Saturday at 07:00, a teenager was robbed and beaten outside a fast-food restaurant.

The 16 year old was picking up litter in a car park when he was attacked by 3 men. He suffered minor injuries but didn't loose much money. Two 16 year olds and a 19 year old are being questioned about the incident.

Bristol Bridge Disaster

A woman and eight others, including six police officers, were killed after a silver BMW lost control and crashed into the railings of a bridge in Bristol.

After the crash the car drove and landed in a nearby lake. The six police officers died trying to save the passangers trapped, who are now being treated in the local hospital. Two drivers have now been arrested and the road is still closed for investigation.

iPad Mini?

Recently there have been a lot of rumours about the 'still to be' iPad mini. No one knows if they are true, but many believe what they read. Apple have sent out invitations, which had 'We've got a little more to show you' written on them; to an event on the 23rd of October that will hopefully reveal the largely anticipated device.

It is thought that it will come with the new Lightening connector and maybe an updated and more powerful A6 chip. If this chip is included, then the gaming experience will certainly be a lot better than any other tablet in the market. The iPad mini, as the name suggests, will be smaller than the current line up; it is said that it will have a 7.8 inch screen, the current tablets have always had a 10 inch display. This exciting new device will go on sale on the 2nd of November this year, just in time with the Christmas rush. Rumours suggest that the tablet will be sold at a price of £150 to £200, which means that people who can't afford the current iPad can now own a smaller, but better, one.

The iPad Mini is set to battle with the other smaller tablets including Google's Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD. Right now, it looks like it will win everyone over, as it will have better features and a much more respectable price. Will Apple's new tablet cause a stir and up their market value? The iPhone 5 hasn't done that yet, but the iPad Mini might...

Brunette Squirrel Discovered

Scientists have found a fourth type of squirrel living in the UK called a Brunette Squirrel. The 3 other types are red, grey and black. The Brunettes are also known as black-reds. They are dark brown with the same body shape as the red squirrel as well as tufty ears and white markings which are on its stomach. The brunette squirrels are a subtype to red squirrels which there is only 120,000 left. On the other hand there is 2.5 million greys and 25,000 blacks.
There has been a number of sightings of the brunette squirrel in places where red squirrels can still be found such as Scotland, Cumbria, Merseyside and The Isle Of Wight. There has been research on the grey and black squirrels and scientists have found that the black squirrels have a missing piece of DNA which causes them to only produce black furred baby squirrels. Now scientists want to know more about the reds and brunettes and why the greys are such a successful invader.

'Nun' Caught Shoplifting On Camera!

CCTV cameras caught a nun recently shoplifting refreshments.

It appears the religion-committed woman, dressed in a long dress, helped herself to refreshments such as beer. The CCTV footage shows the woman walking up to the fridges, grabbing a beer or two and dropping it in her pocket. She then got a bottle of water and walked out of the shop, unquestioned!

The video was uploading to the popular video-sharing website, YouTube, and received Orr 145,000 views and thousands of likes. One user commented "She payed for nun of them things" which was liked again by thousands.

It's not the first time a nun has been caught committing a crime. A few years back two nuns robbed a bank in Chicago.

Conjoined Twins Separated

Daniel and Angela Formosa have thanked doctors after they successfully separated their conjoined daughters.

When Angela Formosa was pregnant, her doctors discovered that she was pregnant with conjoined twins. She was warned that the two girls may not survive the pregnancy. However the identical twins were born alive but were joined at the abdomen, where they were sharing part of an intestine. Only a day after their birth they underwent an 5 hour long emergency operation in order to separate them. It took 15 medical staff to perform it.
Thankfully it was a great success and doctors say that Rose and Ruby, who are now 12 weeks old, can look forward to a normal happy life.

Earth-Sized Next Door Neighbour Discovered

Earth seems to have found it's twin sibling. A planet of the same size orbiting our nearest solar system. The 'Second earth' is currently orbiting close to the Alpha Centauri B star, which is thought to be much too hot to sustain life (Up to 1500 degrees celsius on the surface of the planet). However, scientists are hopeful that this planet may be part of a much larger system of planets, some which may be habitable.

The new planet is located 4.3 light years from our sun, barely a step in astronomical terms. Even so, it would take 40,000 years for a current probe to get there. Despite this, astronomers have not ruled out a space mission in the not-too-distant future. The un-named planet seems to be unusually light, weighing only a little more than Earth. This makes it the lightest exoplanet to be found orbiting a sun-like star. We should find out more about the new planet soon...

England World Cup Qualifier Stopped By Rain

Gary Neville on rain soaked pitch

Heavy rain stopped and cancelled the England vs Poland match because it had flooded the pitch and the ball would not bounce on it.

Despite FIFA saying that they would try there best to make the match go ahead it didn't and what made matters worse was that the match could have gone ahead if they had decided to close the roof.

England manager Roy Hodgson said; "It's going to need a lot of attention if it's going to be playable tomorrow afternoon."

The match is now to be played today at 4 o'clock, but people are worried that it won't be dry on-time.

Atomic Bomb Site To Soon Be Open To Tourists

China officials have said that they are planning to turn an Atomic Bomb testing site into a tourist attraction.

China to open atomic bomb site for tourismAround 6m yuan, £595,000, is to be spent on the site in the northwest of China,  said Xinhau news agency. The project is to be carried out by the Beijing university, Tsinghua University, and the local government.Visitors will apparently be able to visit the laboratories and dormitories scientists used, while a 300-metre anti-air strike tunnel has also been earmarked for renovation and display.

My Trip To Media City UK

On Sunday the 14th me and my family went to Media City to be part of the audience for the new series of Sam And Marks Big Friday Wind Up.

To start off with we had to go to Media City and into the studios where they said that they wanted to get a shot of the audience outside, under the big screen where Sam and Mark would speak to us and tell us to go inside the studio because the show was about to start. It took a lot of practising and it was weird when people was watching us being filmed, but I think they all understood what we were doing.

After we did that we where seated inside the studio which was filled with wires and also television cameras. They didn't do it the way I had expected as they filmed the end first and the interview with the band. So after filming Sam and Mark, they did the introduction in which they ran down the stairs and on to the studio floor, this took several attempts as the first time Mark started laughing at his own jokes and on the second time Sam nearly fell down the stairs.

Because we went to see the last episode been filmed, Sam and Mark had to do a challenge at the end of the show, and that challenge was to walk on fire, but I can't give to much away because the show isn't due to come out until February 2012. Over all it wasn't what I expected at all but I still enjoyed it, even if I had to sit in a studio for 4 hours!

The Planet PH1.

Astronomers have found a planet whose skies are illuminated by four different suns - the first known of its type.

The distant world orbits one pair of stars which have a second stellar pair revolving around them.

The discovery was made by volunteers using the Planethunters.org website along with a team from UK and US institutes; follow-up observations were made with the Keck Observatory.

A report on the Arxiv server has been submitted to the Astrophysical Journal. The planet, located just under 5,000 light-years away, has been named PH1 after the Planet Hunters site.

It is thought to be a "gas giant" slightly larger than Neptune - more than six times the radius of the Earth.

"You don't have to go back too far before you would have got really good odds against one of these systems existing," Dr Chris Lintott, from the University of Oxford, told BBC News

It has 6 suns!

Frog In Salad!

A live frog has been found in a salad bag, bought by a woman at a Hampshire supermarket.

Christina Carrington -50- started eating the salad and noticed halfway through that there was a frog inside. The palm-sized amphibian spent the Sunday night in Mrs Carrington’s fridge waiting to be discovered.

It was actually her daughter who found the green and brown frog in the Waitrose salad. Waitrose have apologised and are investigating.

Mrs Carrington was annoyed and said she had not been able to eat salad since.

Here are some quotes;
"You pay more for these prepared salads and trust they've been prepared properly," she said.

Waitrose said: "We are very sorry for the distress caused. We're investigating with our suppliers how this happened and taking steps to further minimise the chances of this happening again."

First-Time Sky-Diver 'Cheats Death'.

A university student has cheated death after his parachute failed to open on his first sky dive.

University student Liam Byrne, 18, was sent spiralling towads the ground from 3,200ft when his first parachute failed to fully open, and his reserve chute became tangled, after jumping solo from a plane at Peterlee Parachute Centre in County Durham: First-time skydiver cheats death after parachutes get tangled18 year-old Liam Byrne jumped from 3,2000ft above a parachute centre on Saturday evening where his parachute became twisted and he was ordered over radio to release his reserve. The reserve also got tangled which sent him spiralling to earth. Luckily Liam landed in a tree and the branches broke his fall. He was left hanging 30ft above ground until the fire brigade released him.

He said "I was really glad I didn't hit the church or fence below. I made sure I grabbed onto the tree so I was safe". The emergency services came 30 minutes afterwards.
