Potential Olympic Ban For Syria

Athletes from Syria could be dis-allowed to compete in this summer's Olympic Games. This is an effect of the wars and fighting between the government troops and people who don't like how things are run. But this warning should only apply to those who have links with the fighting.

The warning follwed 108 people, including 49 children being killed in an attack on the town of Houla on Friday.

The UN described the bombing of Houla as "outrageous".

At a big meeting last night, all of the UN countries called for the Syrian government to withdraw its heavy weaponry from residential areas. If not they will be withdrawn from the biggest sporting event of 2012.

Fighting in Syria has continued despite the 280 UN monitors travelling to the country to try and keep the peace.Boy holding Syrian flag
