Facebook smartphone to be 'released next year'

We all know that Facebook have apps for all sorts of things, but now they're bringing out their own smartphone! The New York times cited unnamed sources, including Facebook employees, which suggested that they had hired several smartphone technicians. Facebook responded to this by saying "We were struggling to make money out of our growing mobile audience." They have also started their own mobile app store. This App Store currently offers links to Facebook-enabled apps within Apple's iOS and Google Android stores but developers will soon be able to create apps to be placed exclusively in Facebook's app store. According to the New York Times, Facebook has hired experts who worked on the iPhone and other smartphones. It quoted one of the Facebook employees who said the site's founder Mark Zuckerberg was "worried that if he doesn't create a mobile phone in the near future... Facebook will simply become an app on other mobile platforms".
