Olympic Sized Facts

Here are some facts about the Olympics and the arena's for the 2012 Olympics.

The Olympic Stadium has the capacity to hold up to 80,000 people!

The wave shaped roof on the Aquatics Centre measures 12,000 square metres, which is one and a half times bigger than Wembley football pitch!
London is the first city to host the Olympic Games 3 times!

The Olympic Stadium, which is holding the athletics, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies, has cost £500m to construct!

The roof over the stadium is not made of steel or concrete but of PVC!

Around the top of the roof, there are 14 lighting towers reaching 70m (230ft) above the sports area!

They each support 532 individual lights!

Food prices:
Fish and chips from inside the stadium will cost £8.50!
Beer and jacket potato will cost £13!
A cup of tea £2 and cup of coffee £2.60!
