Introduction to tennis:
Tennis is a sport usually played between two players (singles) or between two teams of two players each (doubles.) Each player uses a racket to hit the ball. The object of the game is to play the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a good return. You will see tennis in the Olympics, played by all ages.
Wimbledon final 2012:
The match was between Andy Murray and Rodger Federer. The exciting match took place on Sunday the 8th of July.
FEDERER BEATS MURRAY 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 FOR SEVENTH WIMBLEDON TITLE.
A fantastic effort by Murray but ultimately again was beaten by the better player if not the best player to ever grace the SW19 courts. Early on in the game, it was Murray who looked like a six-time champion rather than his rival and he won his first set in a major following three straight-sets defeats in his previous three final defeats. But it all went down hill after a short break, when the roof was closed up. After an exhausting 3 hours Federer finally won the game.
Speech from the winner: "Murray has been so consistent, it shows he cares so dearly about tennis his reaction, he'll win at least one grand slam. I think I played some of my best tennis in the last two sets."
Murray holds back the tears in his post-match interview on court, Murrays speech: "I'd like to congratulate Roger, I was asked after my semi-final 'is this my best chance'. Roger is 30 now, he's not bad for a 30-year-old. I know he struggled early on with his back, but congratulations you deserve it. Thanks to everyone in my corner, we did a great job, so thank you.
"Everyone talks about how tough it is to play at Wimbledon with the pressure but the support has been incredible."
In the end, there were no major arguments and the game ended safely! Did you watch the big kick off? If so what were your thoughts... (comment below)
