On the 15th of December, 2011 Mr Lovett sadly died from a heart attack. The following day, the main hall was flooded with R.I.P messages and tributes to the great role model, house leader and P.E teacher. Everyone was in great mourning over a massive loss to the school, and to the community.
Yesterday, (12th July 2012), we remembered Mr Lovett with what he loved best. We had a sports day! To motivate us all even more, Mrs Mcfarlane held a quick Assembly before the start of the events, to remind us of that first assembly of this year, where he stood at the front of us all and said that he thought of Osborne as one big family. And that he was delighted to be the 'father' of that family.
We were blessed with a great, sunny, hot morning for the sports day. Everyone was really enthusiastic and everyone cheered everyone on in the races. When it came to the last race of the day, everyone was so excited they walked right up to the track to make sure they were close enough to see the teachers make a fool out of themselves. After the race, everyone swamped the track, were there was a sudden burst of celebration as Osborne was declared the winners of the day.
For the afternoon the front garden was full of stalls all selling items for use to buy, with all the money going towards the memorial garden where the swimming pool once was. There was also some Mr Lovett Bands on sale which were in the house colours, which all had a message printed on, and they are things that he always said. The yellow band (Athorpe) has 'Do Your Best' on it. The red band (Segrave) has 'Never Give Up' on. The green band (Hatfield) has 'Live Life To The Full'. And finally the blue band (Osborne) has 'Take Every Opportunity'.
But all we can say is this, we did it for Mr Lovett.
