Kids Call For A Lower Speed Limit

Some of us complain that the speed limits around neighbourhoods are too low and need to be upped. However a whole bunch of kids have helped a charity campaign about reducing the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph!

It all started when a road safety group called “Brake” spoke to 8,000 kids about the speed limit in their area where they live. Amazingly the results showed that more than half of the 8,000 children who they spoke to said that they wanted to lower the speed limits near housing and schools.

Nick Bratty from the charity said: “The reason for that is we know that drivers are much more likely to be able to stop in time, rather than hit something, and react to something that they’re not expecting if they’re travelling at 20mph rather than 30mph.”

But how do you feel about this? Would you want the speed limit to drop from 30mph to 20mph where you live? To be honest I think that it is fine as it is, there have been no incidents that I know of around where I live. What about you?
