Shanthi (the elephant) was given the musical instrument after the keepers noticed she loved making lots of noise! When they strapped the harmonica onto the bars of her cage at Smithsonian Zoo somthing amazing happend.
The 36 year old indian elephant began to throw out amazing notes hours at a time. Her keepers managed to catch this unbelivable moment on video! Watch it below...
Shanthi loves to play the harmonica, even if she hasn't even got an audience, shes still there blowing in and out to make loud sounds!
Her keepers were especially surprised, because she even ignored her favourite thing in the world - food - to play music!
Before keepers gave Shanthi
the harmonica, they noticed she seemed to make musical sounds any way she could.
She'd tap things with her
trunk, rub her leg against trees to a rythmn and flap her ears to make noise.
So they decided to let her
take her musical passion to the next level... and now this gifted giant is
wowing visitors to her zoo.
