The Irish have been waiting 10 years to get into a major tournament like this and now is their time to shine. Their game against Croatia was held in Poznań.
Just 2 and a half minutes into the match Croatia's Mandžukic scored a surprising header which put them Into the lead. But Ireland fought back and in the 19th minute St Ledger scored an equaliser. Ireland was back in the game. Not for long though because Croatia was not going to go home with a draw. Jelavic scored another goal for them, the Irish were appealing for an offside, in my opinion it most certainly was, but the goal was counted.
Only 3 minutes after half time Mandžukic scored the third goal for Croatia. Ireland tried and tried again, but they just couldn't make the ball end up in the back of the net. In the end there were 5 minutes of stoppage time, that was it for Ireland; they lost 3-1. Croatia did it once again.
