Earth in Danger?

For many years we have been using different modes of transport, such as cars, buses and planes. Unfortunately, these use fossil fuels like petrol and diesel, which unleash greenhouse gases into the Earths atmosphere. This makes our planet warmer; melting ice in the North and South poles. As the ice is melting, the sea levels are rising; and coasts are vanishing.

Last year, many people witnessed some shocking natural disasters. Many earthquakes, some with a magnitude of more than 8.0, and ofcourse the tsunami in Japan. Who knows what will come next, maybe a huge earthquake? We need to be ready for whatever will come.

Furthermore, much of the animal kingdom is getting wiped out. This is because of humans cutting down a lot of trees in the animals' habitat. Tigers are just one example of an endangered species. It is said that only 3200 are left in the world. The number is critically low, so people are trying to save tigers by putting more in zoos. But just think what the world would be like without these magnificent creatures.

Pollution is the main cause of global warming. There is already a massive hole in the Ozone Layer above the North Pole. The suns rays are melting the ice and heating up the continent. Polar bears are forced to swim long distances in the summer to find somewhere to sleep. All this melting is causing the worlds sea level to rise, eroding more and more coastlines.

If you want Earth to stay how it is, or how it used to be, then be more efficient. Turn of the lights when you don't need them. Use your car less and switch to walking. Remember: Reuse Reduce Recycle!

Earth and its future is in OUR hands!
