Where Are The Kids?

School has been back for 2 days now, but the question on most schools minds is: 'Where are the kids?'

Young spectators on the Olympic Park during the ParalympicsEven though school has started for a new term this week, most children aren't attending, so they can go to the Paralympics. Because of this, some schools have extended their holidays until the end of the 11 day games so the kids don't miss lessons. But some other schools were using the paralympics as an educational exercise. One school in the south of Wales was missing half of its year 6 class.

Parents say that they wanted to teach their children about the importance of taking part and to use the elite sport to inform their child's opinions on disabled people. One young boy said "The people are in wheelchairs or are blind or deaf - I don't know how they do it."
