Why Not Give Ice Skating A Try...

Ice skating can be done for a variety of reasons, including health benefits, leisure, traveling, and various sports. Ice skating occurs both on specially prepared indoor and outdoor tracks, as well as on naturally occurring bodies of frozen water, such as lakes and rivers.
There are places where anybody can turn up to give ice skating a try. Like Ice Sheffield, or there is a place in Doncaster called Doncaster Dome where there is a large indoor waterpark, and an ice skating rink. However, Doncaster's ice skating rink is aimed more for people who can properly ice skate as there are large ramps where you have to skate up, and whiz down the other ramp. So it's more for people who are confident in skating.
If you are a toddler, a teenage, or someone slightly older, ice skating is for anyone! If you want to try something knew, or to have a nice day out. Then ice skating is perfect for that! Also ice skating might be something you thought you might not like, but with most people it turns out that people are actually very good at it one they try it!
Ice skating is a very healthy sport, that keeps you active and fit if you have a regular routine there. Ice skating is a family friendly sport as ANYONE can do it!

Ice skate facts:

  • Modern skates are made of stiff leather to help support the skater’s ankle. They are made with wide, padded tongues to give the skater more movement. The laces are always tied tightly for total control. The height of the skater’s heel helps the skater to push their body forward and to make quick turns. The blade on the bottom of an ice skate has a very slight curve. There is a groove in the middle of each blade called a hollow. The edges on either side of the hollow are what touch the ice. There are also teeth cut into the toe of the blade which help the figure skater make jumps and turns.
