Whilst covering the violence in Homs, Syria an American Jounalist named Marie Colvin was killed in a bombing attack. Other people, including French photographer Remi Ochlik, were killed when the
blast hit the media centre where the journalists were working.
She lost her sight in one eye after being hit by shrapnel in Sri Lanka in 2001. She had been a BBC reporter for 20 years and had been in many warzones, that is where she lost half of her sight 11 years ago.
