GCSEs To Be SCRAPPED!

The Education Secretary, Michael Gove has said that GCSE's are not to be taken by anyone starting their high school career this year, and instead should be replaced by the EBacc.

The EBacc does not have your typical grades, A* to C, but instead has percentages, so if you got half of the questions right, you would get 50% instead of a letter. The EBacc is coming into action to stop the 'dumbing down' of GCSEs and will get rid of coursework all together, replacing it with a large test at the end of two years. Less people will be allowed to resit their exams.

These plans will start taking place when this year's Y7's take their GCSEs and the first subjects that the EBacc will be used on are English, Maths and Science.

They have also scrapped plans to make a second exam for less academic children.
